Chapter II
Expecting the Unexpected
The boy began turning his body constantly in every direction, eyeing every orange mushroom.
One of them has to make the first move he thought.
His eyes narrowing and focusing on every individual target surrounding him, his grip on his branch undaunted. The monsters staring at him with violent eyes, one made a sudden move, and caused the boy to turn around. With the boy’s back toward the others, they rushed in their attacks.
As the first mushroom jumps toward the boy, he immediately looks behind himself and stepped to the side, letting the mushroom pass him.
Barely caught that one!
The boy’s action left him unbalanced, where he was assaulted on his ribs by another flying mushroom. The attack caused him to lose his breath as he struggled to keep on his feet. An eager mushroom rushed in from the front. The boy noticed the overzealous creature, gripped his branch, and swung at the beast. The branch collided with the mushroom, but the clash only made it flinch. After a quick recovery from the swing, it jumped and headbutted the boy’s stomach, making him fall onto his knees.
A mushroom headbutted the boy’s back and caused him to lose his branch and fall forward on his hands, as another from the front headbutted the boy on his forehead. The boy fell on his back, his senses weakening. For a moment, he heard nothing, saw nothing, felt nothing. Trying to regain his focus, he was able to make out an orange cloudy figure from above falling toward him. He quickly rolled to the side as the dull figure landed beside him. The boy looked up to focus on the figure, only to be headbutted on the nose. Landing on his side, dazed out, blood traveling down from his nostrils, his conciousness slowly drifted away. Opening his eyes slowly, his vision obscured, he sees the blurred orange images hopping toward him.
I can’t move…
As his hopes of survival depleted along with his conciousness, he spotted a tall dark figure approaching from behind the mushrooms.
Another monster? Forget it, I won’t make it through the day like this anyway. Let it come.
Before submitting himself to his determined end and blackout, he witnessed the dark figure dash toward the mushrooms and quickly dispose of them all. Splitting their bodies horizontally in two, and leaving a cloud of dirt in its path. His eyes closed and his mind gave into unconciousness.
Me like.
Short though. You kinda let the ideas concentrate. I usually let them explode onto my paper, then clean up the words.
Yeah, it’s not done yet. Doing homework right now and I was worried my internet was about to disconnect. I just submitted it so I can edit it later. (:
I know the chapters are short, but I’m just hoping that it will keep the reader wanting more. I’m expecting to write about 200+ chapters. Chapter 200 will probably make it to King Slime. =P We’ll see how much time I have to write. For now, I’m writing as much as I can, and short chapters will have to settle for now.
You trying for a Dan Brown way of chapter-ising? o_O
Lol, I’m just trying to do what I can. We’ll see how everything goes. XD
Two hunner’d is really quite a lot. XD
I’m trying my best not to hit one hundred, but it’s that or posting super long chapters and bore the tears out of my readers. . . XD
But you’ll find that short chapters really give you very little leeway in the area of storytelling, unless you are really skilful.
I’ll do what I can for now, and if I find that my stories are becoming less entertaining, I’d stop. But I’d like to give it a shot. :] The thing is, I have a lot of my own ideas into the wide range of Maple. I want my story to have the same features the game has. Leveling up, bosses, quests, checking people’s levels, spawn rate, etc. If I place the information in the right spot, I may just have a chance to make this happen. :]
Oo.
Well, whatever you do, I’m looking forward to seeing it. Keep in mind that tonnes of other stories around here (not even talking about the fanfics on other sites) have tried to do that, so it’ll be interesting to read a fresh take on those stuff. ^^
I take it the other authors didn’t succeed?
But hey, the least I could do is try. Maybe I can be one of the few who actually make a good story.
